The Story Behind Sorvo
Vinho Sorvo was born in 2023, the result of a bold decision to start over.
After years in finance and hospitality, I chose to leave behind a fast-paced lifestyle in Türkiye and move to Portugal, following a long-held passion for wine and a desire to turn it into a new chapter.
To bring that vision to life, I deepened my knowledge through wine education in London and Lisbon, including WSET Level 3 and studies focused on Portuguese wine, gradually turning years of learning and curiosity into the hands-on experience of making my own wine.
The name Sorvo traces its roots to the Latin sorbēre — to sip, draw in, or absorb. This linguistic root has travelled through Romance languages and cultures, appearing in related forms in Portuguese, Spanish-speaking countries, including Argentina, and Italian.
In Portuguese, sorvo refers to a sip or a mouthful of liquid, while related words in other Romance languages carry the same idea of drinking slowly, taking something in, and savouring the moment.
Vinho Sorvo is more than a wine brand. It is a personal journey, a transformation from boardrooms and spreadsheets to vineyards and cellars, and a quiet return to what feels true.
